This trade association provides many services to credit unions, including representation, information, public relations, continuing professional education and business development.

National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors ("NASCUS") www.nascus.org
This trade organization provides information, representation, education and technical assistance, as well as a forum for interaction between its members. It serves the interests of both state-chartered credit unions and the regulators who supervise them.

National Association of Federal Credit Unions ("NAFCU") www.nafcu.org

This is the regulatory agency for federally chartered credit union and the administrator of the federal share insurance fund. Some of the regulations will apply to state-chartered, federally insured credit unions.

Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") www.sec.gov
The primary mission of this regulatory agency is to protect investors and maintain the integrity of the securities markets. The SEC also oversees other key participants in the securities world, including stock exchanges, broker-dealers, investment advisors, mutual funds, and public utility holding companies.

National Association of Securities Dealers ("NASD") www.nasd.com
This regulatory agency licenses individuals and admits firms to the industry, writes rules to govern their behavior, examines them for regulatory compliance and disciplines those who fail to comply.  It also monitors and regulates trading in equities, corporate bonds, securities futures and options. It provides education and qualification examinations to industry professionals while supporting securities firms in their compliance activities, and also operates the largest securities dispute resolution forum in the world.

State Insurance Regulators
Since many credit unions or CUSOs offer insurance products through association with a third party insurance broker, and credit unions and CUSOs must comply with state insurance laws in order to receive revenue from the sale of insurance products, we have provided the links to the state insurance regulators below:

HUD regulates real estate loan related regulations including the Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act ("RESPA").
